2019 – HOW IT’S SHAPING UP

I’m 35 this year, jeez even typing that is just bananas. Anyone else still feel like they’re 16?? Anyway, I’m soon to be 35… I’m a Christmas baby and had my second baby on my 33rd birthday and that feels like it was yesterday! The years are running away with themselves so I’m taking a bit of time to reflect on 2019, my 36th year…

Happy 33rd birthday to meeee… Baby Nora 😍 the biggest baby (10lb 3oz!) ever!

As a family we’re having a bit of a change of lifestyle, we’ve stuck our house up for sale that’s in a Manchester suburb (and where we’ve been for over 10 years) and are relocating to the countryside. It’s terrifying and exciting in equal measures. I grew up in East Lancashire and my husband Anthony is from Leeds. I suppose it was kinda countrysidey where I grew up but Anthony’s never really had that leafy way of life and he’s definitely always had an itch to be rural. So we’re throwing caution into the wind and hope by early 2019 to be living in the Ribble Valley, Lancashire and to raise the girls in a more outdoorsy way.

2019 is also the year Edie starts school, in September she’ll be lost to the ‘system’ and so the first two thirds of the year will be a frantic mix of squeezing holidays in at dates to suit us rather than the school hols and also me just trying to soak up the time left with my little pre-schooler on the 2 days a week I have with my girls.

3.5 year old Edie is off to school next September and asks every morning if she’s starting school today…it’s gonna be a long year!!

About Time will be a fully live business venture by 2019, we’ll know whether you all agreed with us on the idea and will hopefully be plotting all our other ideas for products and design development on our main planner product. Alongside About Time I work part-time for a property company, Capital & Centric, I’m a development director there, which basically means I help deliver property developments of varying scales. We have some really lovely and exciting schemes and I work alongside a cracking team. 2019 I suspect will be flippin’ busy at that place and I’m looking forward to seeing what the year holds!

Whenever I’m looking towards the year ahead, a key feature Anthony and I spend a lot of time talking about is holidays. With a pretty crazy work / family life, our holidays are truly treasured times, we only recently started to go on breaks for a fortnight and it’s been a great move. 2 weeks out, together, away from emails and day-to-day life is a proper treat. We’ve started to go to St Ives annually and I suspect we’ll be doing the same again in 2019. Cornwall is the most pretty place, perfect for young families, we’re on the beach every day, rain or shine. We’re also hoping to get some skiing in which is something both Anthony and I adore but haven’t had the time, or particularly the money, to do as much of in recent years. The girls are still a touch too young for it so we might hit lucky and get a weekend away just us!

The last ski trip I had was our honeymoon and I bust my knee falling on the first morning, hoping for a less injury based trip in 2019…

Other things I know are happening include our family visiting from Los Angeles with their new son we haven’t met yet, my father-in-law turns 70, we’re hoping to host a bonfire night extravaganza (assuming we’ve got to the countryside) and well Christmas is always a major feature of my year so I’ll be plotting lots of festivities and of course the launch of the 2020 About Time planner!

So much to get written into my 2019 Planner! What exciting things have you got planned for 2019?
